The Possible Impossibilities

” ‘If you have faith, … it will happen’ (Matthew 21:21).
God always rejoices when we dare to dream. In fact, we are much like God when we dream… . He wrote the book on making the impossible dream possible… .
Eighty-year-old shepherds don’t usually play chicken with Pharaohs… . but don’t tell that to Moses.
Teenage shepherds don’t normally have showdowns with giants… . but don’t tell that to David… . And for sure don’t tell that to God.” —Max Lucado

This quote was shared in my grad school class by my professor and I had to write a response to share with my classmates. It’s such a good reminder, so I wanted to share it with all of you too!

This passage is so enlightening and encouraging that God has the power to do anything. Sometimes we forget that He is able, especially when our minds are so clouded with the worries of the world; we forget to look up to Him who is guiding our paths. We have all been given individual gifts and talents, but there are times when I am afraid to step out and use my gifts in front of others. The enemy will put thoughts in my mind telling me that I’m not good enough to be used by God. And actually, the enemy is right; I am not good enough to be used by God and I never will be, but in the power of Jesus, I am able to be used and He has taken away my sins.

Everyday I have to remind myself that I cannot live this life in my own strength, but in the strength of the Lord. I must have faith that Jesus will take care of the things that are too big for me to handle, and when God gives me power to do these things, that is when He is glorified. He uses our weaknesses to show the world how strong He is. He accomplishes in us the seemingly impossible dreams that we would not be able to do without Him.

In Mark 14:36 Jesus Himself prayed and said, “…Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.” I desire to have this prayer like Jesus; all things are possible with God, not in the ways I see them, but in His will they are done.

Keep looking up to Him and when you are faced with something impossible, remember that it is impossible… but with the Lord, the impossible changes into something possible.
