Out of the wilderness

Selfishness has many forms..sometimes it’s hard to recognize. Fear can be a form of selfishness. What kind if faith is required to enable me to commit those fears to God?
No one intentionally wants to live a life of fear, but there are times when we don’t realize how the anxious thoughts and worries actually take over each step of our lives. Sometimes we think we’re glorifying the Lord, when we’re really more concerned with ourselves.

“I do know that waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty, to carry within oneself the unanswered question, lifting the heart to God about it whenever it intrudes upon one’s thoughts.” -Elisabeth Elliot

Don’t worry about where you’re going, but just enjoy these moments and trust that Lord that everything will work out for His glory.
Once we’re free from the bondage of fear, the next step us to rest in the Lord. Enjoy freedom in Him and move forward. Don’t simply dwell on the past of changes, but put the changes to work. Forsake the wanderings in the wilderness. Sometimes we want to stay wandering in the wilderness because that’s when and how we experienced God. But that’s not where God stops! He’s the one who took care of us in the wilderness (like the people who were brought out of Egypt in Exodus) and He wants to bring us into enjoying Him.

I have been realizing lately this could be one reason for me why the Lord wants me to personally wait on Him. I haven’t let myself fully rest in His presence the last few months and had felt too busy to just enjoy Him. Even after all the admitting of sins, i had not let the Lord lead me to His arms of rest. Such a beautiful glimpse the Lord has shown me of His great, fulfilling Love. His Spirit is always at work quietly in our hearts. After some time, i see that i had not truly enjoyed the presence of the Lord, but rather stayed in the wilderness looking for more ways to be challenged and fixed. Of course challenges and fixings are necessary, but once that season is complete, we can be truly free and rest in Him. It can be a scary thing to come out of the wilderness because of being so comfortable hiding there for so long. But how much greater it is to be fully free in Christ, the One who brings us peace.

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”(Galatians 5:1 ESV)
